Thank goodness spring has finally arrived! We will be celebrating by having classroom parties this Thursday afternoon. I sent home a reminder list for the next volunteers: Logan, Eric, Brianne, Jose, Joe, Talonn.
NO SCHOOL for SPRING BREAK FRIDAY, MARCH 2 MONDAY, MARCH 5
Please be checking your child's grades with the student access. Some grades have already started to slip, because of late work, not turning in work, or simply not being careful and following directions. Safety Patrol notes will be coming home soon. Please read and discuss it with your child, sign and return the white permission slip. Keep the blue sheet for your reference.
Some subject matter is getting more challenging--especially in math, and spelling. Keep practicing those math facts, also. Some kids are getting under the 4 minute time! Way to go!!!
The last 2 months will go by rather quickly. There will be field trips coming up, so be watching for slips coming home.
Also, mark your caledndars for the spring music concert: Thursday, April 15

Janurary 2010
Time has been running away from me! I can't believe the end of the month is here, and we are also at the middle of our second trimester. We will be doing some midyear checkups within the next week or two. It's time for MAPs testing. On Wednesday we'll do the reading, and on Thursday we'll be doing the math. We'll also do the winter writing prompt, some spelling review, and a test on adjectives.
I am so proud of how many students have tested out of their multiplication time test, and are working on their division facts. There are a few students who are doing their time test in under 4 minutes! Keep it up!
We've started our science unit on Rocks and Minerals. Ms. Koll introduced using the Inspiration and Power Point programs on the computer. The students will be using those to share what they've learned. We have been learning how to take notes by outlining. If anyone has any cool rock collections, and would like to share them with our class, let me know.
Soon, it will be time for our Valentine/Friendship party. I will be sending the notes home for the next round of class donations. I'll talk to the kids about valentine containers.
